Like any lithium-based battery, a power bank's capacity gradually declines with use — it's not a defect, it's how the chemistry works. The question is what's a normal lifespan, and what shortens it unnecessarily.
What determines lifespan
Lithium-polymer cells, which is what Phonokart's power banks use, are typically rated for several hundred full charge cycles (roughly 300–500) before capacity drops to around 80% of original. A “full cycle” doesn't mean one full charge session — it's cumulative, so two 50% charges count as one cycle. For daily use, that generally works out to somewhere around 1.5–3 years before you'll notice a meaningful capacity drop, depending on usage intensity and charging habits.
What shortens lifespan faster than normal
- Frequently letting it drain to 0% before recharging, rather than topping up more often.
- Charging or storing it somewhere consistently hot — heat is the biggest accelerator of battery degradation.
- Using it with a poorly matched, unregulated charger that delivers inconsistent voltage.
- Leaving it fully drained in storage for long periods without an occasional top-up.
What helps it last longer
